Position Summary:
The Chemist III is responsible for designing, conducting, and implementing quality control testing as well as reviewing documented test results to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures. The Chemist III uses knowledge and creativity to recommend solutions to problems.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Perform quality control testing for raw materials, in-process and final product samples, according to approved Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP guidelines. Complete testing documentation and data entry as required for procedures and test performed.
- Review and/or approve cGMP documentation generated by other analysts in the laboratory.
- Accountable for following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhering to cGMP guidelines.
- Perform testing as needed to generate data for validations and other special projects.
- Perform instrument calibration or qualification according to written procedures.
- Write and review SOPs and/or Validation Protocols.
- Use judgment, creativity, and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions to problems as directed by QC management.
- Maintain current knowledge in field of expertise.
Competencies:
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related science discipline.
Experience Requirements: This position requires at least five years of experience in Chemical/Biochemical testing, including experience in a regulated environment (FDA, EPA, etc.). Knowledge of FDA cGMP requirements is an essential pre-requisite for this position.
Compliance Requirements:
The minimum compliance expectation for this role entails strict adherence to FDA regulations and company policies governing sales and marketing activities. This includes completion of required compliance training, accurate documentation of sales interactions, and adherence to data privacy regulations. Additionally, the role requires proactive participation in compliance reviews, prompt reporting of any potential issues, and ongoing education to stay updated on relevant FDA regulations.
